ChromaGen™ is
a unique system of individually prescribed
(haploscopic) filters which help individuals
suffering from colour vision deficiency or
academic skills disorders including Dyslexia.
Unlike coloured overlays, each eye is tested
separately to give the most efficient combination for both eyes.
The filters
can be worn as spectacles or contact lenses and while an up to date eye exam
is recommended prior to your assessment, you do not need a prescription to wear
ChromaGen™ filters.
ChromaGen™ is the only patented, US FDA-cleared product for the management
of reading disorders through the fitting of coloured glasses or contact lenses.
Clinical trials and numerous studies have demonstrated the benefits of ChromaGen™
You can only have a ChromaGen™ assessment through a licensed ChromaGen™ practitioner
.The assessment using the filters can be carried out on adults and children
suffering from all forms of academic skills disorders
Chromagen for Dyslexia
Dyslexia refers to a number of leaning
related problems affecting approximately 16% of the population, with males
being more affected than females. It has nothing to do with intelligence, and
often Dyslexic children have very high IQ’s but because their reading
age is usually lower than their chronological age, their intelligence is often
hard to predict.
Approximately one in three sufferers of Dyslexia has the visual
form where the information reaching the brain from the eye is ‘scrambled’ making
the written word difficult to read or write. It is this form of Dyslexia which
can be helped by Chromagen filters.
Chromagen can help in the following instances:
- Academic skills disorder (ASD™)
- Dyslexia
- Dyspraxia (lack of co-ordination;
clumsiness)
- Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder
(ADHD)
- Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD)
- Or other
related learning difficulties
Or individuals who exhibit one or more of the
following signs:
- Are intelligent but have not reached their
full potential at school
- Avoid reading, writing
or mathematics
- Have difficulty in concentrating
- Have difficulty
in following texts - i.e. skipping lines and
words
- Have difficulty in copying correctly
- Have been
diagnosed with myopia, astigmatism or strabismus,
up to 0.75 - yet have experienced little or
no improvement in academic studies
- Have a reputation
for being lazy, problematical or immature learners
- Have
little sense of orientation and poor concept
of time and space

How text would look
to a dyslexic |
Before the ChromaGen™ assessment, your
practitioner will find a baseline for reading
and writing which can be improved upon once
the correct filters have been individually selected for
right and left eye.
An immediate improvement
in accuracy of reading writing and comprehension
is often noted with the wearer reporting clearer and
easier to read text, which stays still on the
page.
Chromagen for Colour Vision Deficiencies
Colour blindness occurs when there is a deficiency
in certain chemicals in the retina at the back
of the eye. There are over 3 million people in
the UK with some form of colour blindness, and
more males than females are affected.
There are
huge variations in deficiencies from complete inability
to distinguish any colour, to a near normal where
typically the chemical for seeing red and green
is slightly altered.
ChromaGen™ haploscopic
filters work by changing the wavelength of colour
going into one or both eyes to enhance colour perception and colour discrimination.
They can be worn as spectacles or contact lenses, occasionally only one lens
gives a significant enhancing effect and is therefore better worn as an individual
contact lens.
The change experienced can be quite dramatic, imagine a world
where your colour perception has always been distorted
suddenly becomes vibrant and bright, or you see
colours you have never seen before. In trials,
over 97% of individuals with a colour deficiency
reported a significant enhancement to their colour
vision.
